Afozzigiar VI

Description

A large rock shelter known as Afozzigiar VI located on the first terrace above the right bank of the Wadi Afozzigiar. The shelter’s back wall contains three panels with Round Heads paintings reproduced on a composite panel in the Mori Collection. The rock surface is extremely damaged owing to several processes; most damaging, a vast crust possibly covering part of the paintings split the artwork into two panels. The subjects comprise only red human figures with a few instances of white contour. Females, males, and children are represented in different positions (standing, sitting, and moving) evoking mundane and hunting activities. On the wall’s left end side, a third panel shows faint traces of a probable red polylobate headdress. Several kettles are scat- tered around the site.
