Area 5

Description

Area 5 is the southernmost part of the massif with the Wadi Takarkori and its complex network of tributaries. The northern wadis (Wadi Imha and Wadi Anshal) are deep and small; as one progresses southward, the wadis become wider and longer. The Wadi Takarkori is a major geographic divide that separates the Libyan Acacus from the Algerian Tadrart, its natural extension. This area has numerous rock shelters and caves and an impressive presence of Round Heads paintings.
