The Atlas principally relies on the rock art archives of The Archaeological Mission in the Sahara of the Sapienza University of Rome; private archives including the Anne-Michelle & Axel Van Albada Archive; the Adriana Ravenna & Sergio Scarpa Falce Archive; the Donatella Calati & Aldo Boccazzi Archive. Some information was obtained from published materials. The Atlas can potentially be expanded to include other regions beyond the Sahara.
